    The Interoperability Institute (IOI) WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT goal is to provide early career opportunities to address the talent gap in information technology and healthcare to ensure the supply of talent meets the current and emerging needs of the healthcare IT industry. The Workforce Development team is implementing an APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM in partnership with our family of companies, including the MICHIGAN HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK (MiHIN). 

    Apprenticeships are longer term programs with a combination of on-the-job-training and related technical classroom instruction resulting in health IT industry recognized certifications. We look for self-motivated, professional candidates who can work independently and aren’t afraid to ask questions. The Health IT Interoperability Apprenticeship will be working directly with our integration services team on interface engine projects.

    APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM BASICS

    • All our positions are remote, with laptop provided
    • 20- 29 hours/week within our office hours (Eastern Time Zone)
    • 12 month commitment July 2022 - June 2023
    • Related classroom training includes Health IT Integration Engine workshops and LinkedIn Learning course packages
    • Earn hourly wage (starting at $14+/hour)
    • Apprenticeships are hourly part-time, temporary positions
    • Mentored by a professional full time staff team member
    • Learn about cutting-edge healthcare initiatives
    • Network with health IT industry leaders
    • Collaborate with integration services team on projects

    Apprentices may work up to 29 hours per week with the expectation of a minimum of 20 hours per week. All hours must be completed within our office hours Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM Eastern Time, with an hourly wage depending on education/experience.

    The Apprenticeship Program accepts international students with up-to-date work authorization for off-campus employment. 

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Must have reliable internet connection
    2. Must be at least 18 years old
    3. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK AT LEAST 20 HOURS/WEEK FOR 12 MONTHS (STARTING IN JULY)
    4. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN JAVASCRIPT, JSON, OR XML MESSAGES
    5. COMPUTER ENGINEERING OR SIMILAR DEGREE, COMPLETED OR ENROLLED IN
    6. Interest in health IT and interface engines
    7. Quick learner in fast-paced, high-expectations environment
    8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    9. Ability to take initiative with little direction
    10. Able to pass a background check
