  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

     

    Leads all supply chain functions including, Logistics, Supply Planning, and Procurement.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

     

    • Develops and implements strategies that will ensure superior supply chain effectiveness and superior customer service for Value Added and Commodity business operations.
    • Oversees and is accountable for all aspects of supply chain policies, objectives, and initiatives.
    • Oversees and is accountable for all aspects of packaging/food ingredient inventories, raw material and finished goods transportation functions.
    • Oversees and is accountable for all procurement activities.
    • Oversees the coordination of raw material flow from the raw warehouses to the manufacturing facilities.
    • Develops policies and procedures in order to ensure optimization and compliance with established DFV and Dole standards and regulations in areas of responsibility.
    • Lead and develop directors, managers, supervisors, and other employees.
    • The scope of this position financially is accountable for an annual budget of $400MM.
    • Responsible for being a key partner in the division’s Sales and Operations Planning Process (S&OP), as Supply Planning is critical for the S&OP.
    • Develop and maintain supply chain standards and budgets, report variances, and implementing continuous improvements.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)

     

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in transportation, logistics, purchasing, operations or similar in a large, multi-state environment.
    • Minimum 10 years’ management experience.
    • Experience managing budgets, working within balance sheets and other relevant financial metrics.
    • Experience in strategic project management and vendor negotiations required.
    • Experience in 3rd party customer freight development with the utilization of a private fleet for reduction of empty miles a plus.
    • Ability to manage and develop team of direct reports along with strong influence skills for working with senior management as well as cross functional teams. Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to effectively set direction, coach, guide and develop employees and create an environment of positive accountability.
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Transportation Management systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies to support the achievement of business and financial objectives.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the customer and supply base to develop strategic relationships.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business situations and problems, coordinate many complex activities/projects simultaneously and direct successful solutions.
    • Experience developing, monitoring, tracking budget and/or P&L expenses. Must possess strong business and financial skills including the ability to utilize financial metrics and knowledge of business cost structure in supporting and making decisions.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills required as well as the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and use influence skills effectively in cross functional environment.

    External:  Carrier Quality, Customer Supply Chain, Carrier AP department, Carrier Negotiation department

    Internal:  VA and Ag Operations leadership, Logistics Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, QA

     

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

     

    • BA/BS in a related field, or equivalent years of work experience required
    • MBA or other advanced operations degree desirable.

     

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

     

    5-6 direct reports, ranging from Managers, Vice President and Directors

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Ability to travel up to 30% required.
    • Ability to sit, stand, crouch and use regular office equipment
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders in our facilities
    • Ability to carry 25 lbs for 30 feet.
