    JOB SUMMARY

    We are currently seeking a full-time ORGANIC DEPARTMENT MANAGER for our lab in MARIETTA, OH. This position is responsible for supervising department operations.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Responsible for supervising department staff
    • Following established SOP’s and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements, prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and product development 
    • Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, and samples for sample analyses
    • Utilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samples
    • Perform equipment and instrumentation set up and maintenance as needed
    • Accurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data
    • Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review
    • Monitor and address sample backlog issues
    • Maintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records
    • Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS
    • Comply with and promote Safety, and Quality programs

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A person with a bachelor’s degree in the chemical, environmental, physical or biological sciences, or engineering, with at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry and at least eight (8) years of appropriate experience in environmental analysis of representative organic analytes for which the laboratory is approved or seeking approval.  A masters or earned doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
    • Basic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders
    • Computer literacy
    • Ability to work with delicate laboratory equipment
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
    • Experience with GC and GCMS is required, HPLC and LC/MS/MS a plus
    • Knowledge of EPA methodologies is required
