    JOB SUMMARY

    The Analyst III, working in an accredited commercial laboratory in LOUISVILLE, KY, is an experienced analyst capable of performing a wide range of environmental analyses and other laboratory functions independently and with mastery. Qualifications as a Technical Director qualifications are a requirement. Supervision of junior staff may be required.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Perform a wide variety of environmental analytical analysis following established SOP’s and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements.
    • Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, and samples for analyses.
    • Perform 1st and 2nd level data review as required for data reporting.
    • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping.
    • Perform equipment and instrumentation set up, maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine repairs.
    • Assist in the training of laboratory analysts and technicians.
    • Assist in the evaluation, development and validation of new analytical methods.
    • Contribute to the writing, editing, and reviewing SOP’s.
    • Comply with all Safety and Quality System requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance Officer and Technical Director to execute or address non-conformances, audits, investigations, corrective actions and preventive actions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Job Requirements:

    • Thorough technical knowledge of environmental Wet Chemistry, Organics and &/or Inorganics instrumentation and test methods.
    • Experience on a variety of instruments such as: GC, GC-MS, ICP, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatograph, and other automated analyzers a major plus.
    • Strong understanding of CWA, SDWA, RCRA regulations and TNI standards.
    • Ability to conduct analysis and read, interpret, and report technical data.
    • Advanced understanding of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in an environmental laboratory.
    • Excellent computer literacy.
    • Excellent analytical problem-solving abilities.
    • Leadership ability is a strong plus.
    • Ability to prioritize time and activities to meet the demands of the overall workload.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution with a major in a related applied science
    • 24 hours of college credits in Chemistry.
    • Minimum of 5 years of environmental laboratory experience.
