Experience: At least five (5) years of full-time professional nursing experience, preferably including experience as a nurse educator or administrator of a nursing education program. Educational preparation or experience in teaching and learning principles including curriculum development and administration. Broad knowledge of the budget process.
Education: Master’s degree in nursing, or higher Licensure/Certification: Active, unencumbered licensure in the State of Kansas, Missouri, or Multi-state as a Registered Nurse. Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain certification within first six months of hire.
Accreditation Responsibilities: · Direct, perform, ensure, and document all activities required and or suggested by external accreditation bodies and appropriate licensing boards/agencies. These activities include, but are not limited to, the preparation of self-studies, annual reports, and mitigation of program deficiencies.
· Submit KSBN Faculty Qualification Report (FQR) for new PN faculty members.
· Coordinate curriculum development, review and comprehensive assessment of curriculum that meets program, MACOHS, and accreditation standards.
· Assure didactic instruction and clinical and laboratory experiences reflect an understanding of the program philosophy, objectives, and curriculum.
· Schedule and conduct regular, meaningful Practical Nursing Program Advisory Committee meetings.
· Maintain, at the minimum, 75% release time from teaching responsibilities for administrative duties for the Practical Nursing Program.
College Responsibilities: · Ensure timely Program meetings, that minutes are recorded, and Faculty actively participate.
· Meet deadlines: Syllabi, modules schedules, as well as graduation preparations for Nursing students (pinning, graduation luncheon, NCLEX-RN review).
· Assure that student concerns related to faculty, and program are managed appropriately.
· Participate in institutional engagement and advancement
· Develop and maintain student advising activities.
· Identify and advocate for services needed by students.
· Coordinate nursing student recruitment with appropriate departments.
· Serve on the PN Program Advisory Committee (PAC) and other state nursing organization committees; acts as a liaison to other agencies and schools of nursing to facilitate information sharing, collaborative problem-solving, adequate provision of support services, and promotes positive public relations and understanding of the MACOHS Practical Nursing Program.
· Maintain applicable professional licensures.
· Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with the health care community.
Budget Responsibilities: · Collaborate with the CEO on the allocation, preparation, and monitoring of the Nursing Program budget.
· Ensure departmental facilities, instructional equipment, and supplies are up to date and adequate for the PN program.
