    A leading gray and ductile iron foundry is seeking a hands-on Melt supervisor to join their team! Great pay and great benefits!

    Summary: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Melt Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the Melt Department, in a gray and ductile iron foundry including implementation of melt processes and practices; training and supervision of staff; scheduling, safety and OSHA compliance, quality, housekeeping and material flow.

    Requirements:

    Education equivalent to a high school diploma is preferred.

    5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required. Foundry experience preferred.

    Requires superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with client, public, employees, staff, management etc.

    Must possess superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.

    Ability to effectively coach, monitor and discipline employees.

    Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.

    Ability to initiate, coordinate and enforce operational personnel policies and procedures.

    Strong basic mathematics and computer skills.

    Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.

    Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

    Manage equipment and hourly personnel in the Melt Department to generate a steady flow of quality products while maintaining a safe and clean environment; ensure that all proper mold set-up and pouring practices are utilized to avoid losses associated with improper practices

    Assign and instruct the workforce in such a way as to maintain a high level of quality production while following all process procedures as explained in process control instructions; take steps to address scrap and other process problems

    Coordinate and schedule heats to align with daily production schedules; identify order of work to be performed; enforce priorities and procedures as determined by Production Control/Standards Engineer; promote efficiency and productivity of workers

    Supervise, train, coach and review performance of employees on a regular basis; perform probationary reviews; communicate job expectations; Assure that employees are adhering to all company policies and procedures.

    Monitor operations on a constant basis to assure equipment is in proper working condition, employees are following procedures, and work areas are kept in a clean and safe condition

    Assure that all employees understand and abide by all company safety regulations and policies, including scheduling employees to attend all assigned safety meetings, promptly investigating accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate potential safety hazards

    Document all poured molds on daily production sheets and communicate with Production Control/Standards Engineer and Mold Supervisors regarding production scheduling and molding issues; complete daily attendance and absentee reports; track and report inventory and scrap usage

    Maintain company policies and enforce all company contract regulations by following procedures as written

    Communicate with employees and other supervisors to assure smooth shift transitions and inter-shift teamwork; assign proper coverage when absent from work

    Participate actively in the Quality Improvement Process by conducting scheduled employee involvement and training meetings; define, in writing, any problems that must be addressed to any service department
