PURPOSE :
The Mid-Level Church Relations Representative (U.S.) cultivates and stewards relationships with mid-level congregations—typically those giving between $2,000–$8,000 annually—primarily within the Christian Reformed Church and similar denominations. This position plays a key role in deepening church engagement, nurturing faith-based partnerships, and strengthening the bridge between congregations and World Renew's global mission. Through relational stewardship, strategic communication, and collaborative teamwork, this role helps increase church giving, prepares congregations for major donor partnership, and amplifies World Renew's impact storytelling across U.S. churches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Church Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of mid-level church partners, developing and maintaining long-term, trust-based relationships with pastors, mission committees, and congregational leaders.
- Create and implement annual engagement and fundraising plans for each portfolio, aligned with departmental goals and broader CORE strategy.
- Conduct personalized outreach (visits, calls, thank-you notes, proposals, and updates) to strengthen relationships and communicate ministry impact.
- Promote opportunities for church participation in World Renew initiatives, including hosting field staff, joining Discovery Tours, and engaging in global campaigns or Disaster Response Services.
- Collaborate closely with Canadian Church Relations counterparts to share learning, align messaging, and strengthen binational partnerships.
- Enter all church contact and activity data into Salesforce in a timely and accurate manner to support coordinated engagement tracking.
- Identify churches with potential to grow into major partnerships and ensure smooth handoff to senior donor relations staff.
- Participate in the design and implementation of smaller-scale campaigns to re-engage or reintroduce World Renew to lapsed or low-engagement congregations.
- Leverage networks—delegates, DRS connections, volunteers, board members—to extend outreach and strengthen relational connections.
Team and Communications Support
- Support the creation, editing, and distribution of CORE-wide stakeholder communications, such as newsletters, campaign updates, and email communications.
- Provide insights and field stories that enhance communication strategies and ensure content resonates with church audiences.
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of church-facing content.
- Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and cross-departmental initiatives that strengthen church engagement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may coordinate volunteers or interns for specific engagement initiatives or events.

- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and storytelling.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining church or donor relationships within a faith-based nonprofit or ministry setting.
- Ability to plan strategically, manage multiple relationships, and prioritize workload independently.
- Experience with CRM or donor management systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Teams, and other collaboration tools.
- Willingness to travel regularly and occasionally work evenings or weekends for church visits, presentations, and events.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Ministry, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, or related field required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in donor relations, church engagement, fundraising, or a comparable relationship-based role.
- Experience managing a mid-level donor or church portfolio preferred.
- Understanding of congregational structures, stewardship practices, and Christian engagement models.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Fluency in English with strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate theological and humanitarian concepts clearly and appropriately to diverse audiences.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Primarily computer-based work with extended periods of sitting.
- For candidates who live more than 50 miles from the Byron Center, MI (U.S.) office, an alternate office location may be designated.*

- 25% Travel expectency in North America
- Occasional travel to Canada for team meetings and potential international trips to connect churches with field programs.
- Up to seven days of travel per month within the U.S.
- Occasional evening and weekend commitments for church visits or presentations.
