A fast-growing commercial electrical contractor in Kansas City Metro is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Estimator with 2-5 years of experience to support estimating operations. Key Responsibilities — Mid-Level Electrical Estimator
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for commercial electrical projects ranging from small renovations to $5 million construction projects
- Perform material and labor takeoffs using estimating software and construction drawings
- Analyze specifications, plans, and scope requirements to ensure complete bid packages
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing to maximize project profitability
- Assist with value engineering and alternative pricing strategies to win competitive bids
- Participate in bid reviews, job handoff meetings, and post-award project coordination with operations teams
- Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, databases, and standard operating procedures
- Maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
Qualifications — Mid-Level Electrical Estimator
- 2-5 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial construction
- Proficiency with electrical estimating software such as Trimble Accubid, McCormick Systems, ConEst IntelliBid, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, installation methods, and National Electrical Code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a team-first approach
Preferred Qualifications — Commercial Electrical Estimator
- Experience with design-build or design-assist project delivery
- Familiarity with NECA labor standards and estimating best practices
- Knowledge of commercial construction project management software
- Track record of winning competitive bids in the $500K-$5M project range
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and pre-bid meetings
Physical Requirements — Mid-Level Electrical Estimator
- Office environment with standard business hours, Monday through Friday
- Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods
- Occasional travel to construction sites for pre-bid walks and job site visits (up to 10% travel)
- Ability to navigate active construction sites including climbing stairs and walking uneven terrain
- Valid driver's license required for local travel
