Responsibilities: As a Mid-Level Family Law Attorney at The Law Offices of Josephia Rouse, you will: • Partner with clients to truly understand their needs and craft personalized legal strategies that get results. • Handle all aspects of family law and divorce cases—from asset division to child custody and support. • Draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and settlement documents while managing a steady caseload. • Take the lead in court, managing hearings, trials, and litigation strategy with confidence. • Negotiate and mediate to reach fair, practical settlements like MSAs and consent orders. • Prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for depositions and testimony to ensure they feel ready and supported. • Collaborate daily with colleagues across the firm to move cases forward efficiently. • Mentor junior team members and paralegals, reviewing their work and helping them grow. • Keep client files organized and communication clear, setting realistic expectations every step of the way. • Deliver excellent results while maintaining strong client relationships and satisfaction. • Play an active role in refining firm processes and advancing family law practice in Maryland. Qualifications: • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in Maryland required (DC and VA licenses strongly preferred). • Member in good standing with the American Bar Association. • Solid background in criminal justice or related legal fields is a plus. • Proven experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants across diverse case types. • Skilled negotiator with strong communication abilities, especially under pressure or in emotionally charged situations. • Demonstrated success representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediations. • Excellent legal research, persuasive writing, and oral advocacy skills. • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, including experience managing or mentoring support staff. Compensation: $135,000 - $175,000 per year
