    Position Summary

    The Middle School / High School Art Teacher effectively teaches visual art to middle and high school students using approved curriculum and supplementary materials to enhance student learning and creative development. This position integrates a Biblical worldview into all aspects of art instruction, nurturing students’ God-given creativity while developing technical skill, artistic expression, and an appreciation for art as a reflection of the Creator. The Art Teacher works collaboratively with the Fine Arts Department and school faculty to create an engaging, Christ-centered learning environment that inspires students and supports the mission of the school.

    Spiritual Leadership and Culture

    Model a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate Christian character in all professional and personal interactions.

    Maintain a close personal walk with the Lord evidenced by lifestyle and professional conduct.

    Participate actively in spiritual activities including prayer, devotions, Bible study, and chapel.

    Plan and implement lessons that are intentionally and meaningfully integrated with a Biblical worldview.

    Observe the Matthew 18 principle in all conflict resolution.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instruction and Curriculum

    Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum for grades 6–12, covering mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, digital media, and sculpture.

    Effectively teach visual art to middle and high school students using approved curriculum and supplementary materials.

    Prepare detailed lesson plans for all instructional activities that align with curriculum goals and integrate Biblical principles.

    Regularly assess student progress and provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs.

    Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-organized classroom environment that is conducive to learning and creativity.

    Demonstrate enthusiasm and a genuine love for teaching, learning, and the visual arts.

    Guide students in building professional portfolios for college admissions and local competitions

    Design, install, and rotate high-quality student art displays in hallways, common areas, and offices to reflect the school’s commitment to excellence and commitment to celebrating God-given artistic talents

    Student and Classroom Management

    Maintain proper classroom discipline in a manner consistent with school policies and a Christ-centered environment.

    Model cooperative, respectful, responsible, and spiritually-minded behavior at all times.

    Schedule and conduct conferences with parents or students as needed to address academic progress or concerns.

    Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.

    Professional Responsibilities

    Implement systems, policies, and procedures as outlined by school administration.

    Complete all reporting duties, grade reporting, and other paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.

    Maintain punctual attendance at faculty meetings, devotions, and all assigned responsibilities.

    Complete all requirements for ACSI certification and maintain current credentialing.

    Maintain a program of individual professional growth and ongoing development in both pedagogy and the visual arts.

    Fulfill all additional duties as assigned by school administration.

    Be available to assist colleagues as needed, promoting a spirit of unity and collaboration.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the ability to articulate and model a Biblical worldview.

    Agreement with the school’s statement of faith.

    Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field required.

    Demonstrated proficiency and passion for visual art across multiple media and techniques.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage classroom systems effectively.

    Team player with a collaborative and servant-hearted approach.

    ACSI certification or willingness to obtain

    Preferred:

    Master’s degree in Art Education or related field.

    Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in a Christian school setting.

    Experience teaching both middle and high school students.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods, moving throughout the classroom and campus, and handling art materials and supplies.

    Compensation and Terms

    This is a full-time, salaried, 10-month position per contract. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
