  • Responsibilities

    The Middle School Science Teacher (grades 6-8) develops student understanding of biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science through engaging, hands-on lessons, lab experiments, and STEM projects. Responsibilities include planning curriculum, assessing student progress, maintaining a safe classroom environment, and fostering curiosity.

    • Pay: $30.00/hr (negotiable)
    • PTO: 2 weeks, accrues.
    • Holidays: 6 paid holidays - Memorial Day is the next upcoming holiday.
    • Work Options: W2 or 1099
    • Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision through BCBS - partially contributed into if you choose W2. There will be costs on your end.
    • Snow Days: Unpaid. For contract positions, you normally get paid for the hours you work.

     

    Key Responsibilities & Duties

    • Instruction & Curriculum: Develops and implements lesson plans that align with state and national science standards.
    • Lab Safety & Management: Conducts and supervises laboratory experiments while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
    • Student Engagement: Implements diverse teaching strategies (lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, multimedia).
    • Assessment & Evaluation: Grades assignments, tests, and quizzes to evaluate student progress and provides constructive feedback.
    • Classroom Management: Creates a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and collaboration.
    • Communication & Collaboration: Maintains regular, proactive communication with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student performance.
    • Professionalism: Participates in staff meetings, professional development, and maintains accurate student records.

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in science education, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
    • Certification: MI teaching license/certification
    • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use technology in the classroom for instruction and assessment.
