Maumee Valley Country Day School is seeking a Middle School science teacher who will facilitate learning for curious and high-achieving 7th and 8th-grade students. A Maumee Valley teacher is a guide who orchestrates learning for students in ways that are engaging, challenging, and relevant. The successful candidate is a resourceful and innovative teacher who utilizes a range of pedagogical techniques in order to reach all learners. We ask all of our teachers to do the following:

This position reports to the Head of Middle School and collaborates closely with the Middle School team, specialists, and the academic support team members (intervention specialists, counselors, etc.). As a full-time employee, the position offers all of the benefits of a full-time employee at MVCDS.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and implement engaging science lessons organized around experiences and real-life applications
Use highly interactive, multi-modal and developmentally appropriate teaching and classroom management practices
Act as an Advisor and mentor for students
Provide extra help to students individually or as a group
Demonstrate collegiality and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment
Evaluate student performance
Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures
Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, administrators and other professionals on a regular basis
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and parents
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating activities with other teachers
Use a variety of methods and approaches (including differentiation) to match curricular objectives to the range of student needs, and ensure equal opportunity for all students
Develop high expectations for all students, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximize their achievement
Monitor student activities in classrooms and on the rest of the school's campus to ensure the welfare and safety of the students
Work with other members of the faculty, administration and staff on interdisciplinary opportunities at the school
Participate in continued professional growth
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Middle School

Credentials:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or closely related field, Masters Degree preferred
Must be willing and able to secure an Ohio Permanent Non-Tax certificate or Professional Teaching license. The school will support you in obtaining this once hired.
Minimum of three years of experience teaching at the elementary level preferred
