    Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs. We are currently looking for a Project Engineering Intern for our PA operations. Under the direction of the PA Operations Manager, this intern will seek new business, estimate and oversee projects within Pennsylvania. This internship can start in either the spring or summer 2022 season. Primary Duties:Seek and secure new business opportunities in Western Pennsylvania through personal visits, networking, and industry information sources (associations, trade shows etc)Screen potential business opportunities/prospects by analyzing market strategies, scope of work, evaluating options, ability to deliver the product and/or service, examining risks and evaluating customer needs and goals to meet or exceed sales objectivesPrepare estimates for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work, selecting vendors or subcontractorsConsult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction operations to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesMeet with customers on a regular basis to discuss job status and satisfactionInspect work in progress, materials needed, material used, costs, punch lists and adjusts schedules as needed based on this dataConduct a review of work standards, expectations and work practices to continue to improve project/operation effectiveness and productivityConduct and/or attend various meetings including pre-construction and safety huddlesPerform other duties as assigned by managerSupervise Foremen and other employees assigned to the job to ensure compliance with project specificationsEnsure daily paperwork such as timecards, reports, schedules etc are completedBe available to employees, customers and vendors 24/7 during the peak season Qualifications:Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving recordDegree in construction management, project management, or a related field preferredMust be able to work independently and be self-motivatedMust adhere to all Midland, Barrett, Colas and OSHA safety regulationsMust have excellent communication and leadership skillsAbility to travel throughout PA, including overnight travel
