    AP/ Data Entry Specialist

    MTA is currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill our AP/ Data Entry Specialist opening. In this role the individual assists with day-to-day accounting functions mainly focusing on accounts payable and invoice processing and helps with other tasks and procedures as needed to assist other departments with overall daily data entry needs.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • General AP functions
    • Some general AR functions
    • Process and enter high volume vendor invoices into accounting system
    • Prioritize invoices per payment terms
    • Code payable invoices with correct general ledger codes
    • Review payable invoices for accuracy, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
    • Process weekly check runs and payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
    • Process ad-hoc check requests
    • Organize and file paid invoices systematically
    • Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
    • Open mail and separate by departments
    • Assist in preparing check deposits
    • Assist in collecting and filing COIs as appropriate
    • Assist with W-9 collections and year-end 1099 reporting
    • Assist with any additional administrative support functions as needed
    • Effectively contribute to process improvement

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Organized and task oriented
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
    • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
    • Data entry experience, preferred within financial setting
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Familiarity working with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience with Microsoft Office 365
    • Working experience as AP clerk
    • Previous detailed data entry experience (preferred within a financial setting)
    • Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles (preferred)
    • Associate Degree (preferred)
