The Regional Sales Manager reports directly to the National Sales Manager and is responsible for supporting the company's sales goals through professional sales activities and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team selling environment, consistently achieving sales targets with support from product management. This requires a technical sales approach through a thorough understanding of Milestone products and our customers’ applications. This person will reside centrally in and have direct responsibility for the Northeast sales territory (NY, CT, MA, RI, VT, NH, ME)
As a Regional Sales Manager for Milestone, this individual will also be responsible for the oversight and management of an adjacent region along with its direct sales representative. They will work closely with the National Sales Manager to develop both regions toward the larger regional and overall company’s sales goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Sales Manager will be a quota-driven individual and accountable for achieving sales targets.
They will work effectively as part of a wider team-selling environment with routine engagement with the product managers, the national sales manager, and the marketing team.
They will manage their direct territory through effective prospecting and building of key accounts. Additionally, they will oversee these activities in their wider region.
Through technical selling, they will present product and competitive information and perform on-site product demonstrations to prospective customers in a clear and concise manner.
Customer contact, tracking, and quoting will be updated and maintained continually using Salesforce, Milestone’s selected CRM.
Travel, as necessary to manage their territory and their wider region, will be required to meet the sales goals for the company.
Additional duties and attendance at some local and national seminars and shows may be required at the direction of the national sales manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/PERSONAL COMPETENCIES
At least 5 years’ experience in analytical instrumentation sales with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota
Bachelors or Masters degree in chemistry or science-related field
Technical expertise or aptitude for inorganic and organic chemistry applications
Experience with sample preparation techniques or metals analysis
Excellent oral, written, and computer skills (Salesforce a plus)
Ability to travel up to 55+% of the time as necessary to drive their region
Effective time management and priority-setting
