SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The operations manager position oversees management of manufacturing. They will direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards and permit limits, and at or above profitability objectives. An excellent opportunity for an individual ready for their next step up in responsibility. Experience in Lean manufacturing, electroplating operations, and/or quality systems is desirable but not required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs.
Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
Hires, trains, develops, and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations.
Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping and receiving.
Coordinate plant activities to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
Implement cost effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
Maintain complete and accurate records for environmental reporting.
Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This job operates on the plant floor and in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time, exempt position. As production is expected to be 24/7 within a year, the Operations Manager must routinely adjust their schedule to support all shifts (including "2nd", "3rd" shifts and weekends). Operations Manager must be willing to support production during "off-shift" hours via phone, text, email and/or physically coming to plant. TRAVEL: This position may have infrequent overnight travel for training or customer visits. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1 The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree, but not required. 2 5+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a technical, process-oriented operations and/or related industry. . PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles is preferred, experience with electroplating, chemicals, and industrial processes a plus. Miller Plating is an electroplating facility with over 50 years of industry experience serving the Midwest from Medina, OH. We have a wide range of zinc, zinc-iron, and zinc-nickel plating options, as well as passivate capabilities to fit any of our customer’s plating needs from the smallest parts to 11 foot pieces. In addition, Miller Plating operates a 14,000 ft^2 raw material and finished good warehouse with covered loading dock adjacent to the plant.
