    OVERVIEW

    Our experienced Tax Accountants utilize their professional expertise on various domestic and international individual and corporate tax activities. These include the preparation, review, presentation to clients, and filing of federal and state income tax returns, the computation of estimated payments, and the performance of all tax accounting functions. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to conduct tax research on various complicated foreign and domestic tax issues while coordinating the same with department managers within the company.  Public tax/accounting experience is mandatory.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Preparation of state and federal individual and corporate income tax returns including related schedules which include, but are not limited to, Forms 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, 1065, Schedules M-1, M-2, and M-3.
    • Engaging in more complex tax issues.
    • Review individual and entity returns prepared by junior staff and provide guidance on the proper reporting and tax treatment of the information shown or possibly omitted.
    • To be cognizant of budgets but not to the point of compromising the quality and or/efficiency of the engagement. 
    • Maintain, develop and expand positive relationships with clients by maintaining contact with client regarding tax matters throughout the year.  In addition, will need to possess a thorough knowledge of the client and or their business to anticipate any tax, accounting and consulting needs.
    • Alert significant and or unusual tax questions/concerns to the attention of the Tax Director/Manager(s).
    • Inform management of the progress of projects assigned through the use of firm practice software and/or direct communication.
    • Recognize the need for additional training of self as well as junior staff and utilize practice development opportunities offered by the firm.
    • Identify tax planning and consulting opportunities.
    • Recommend effective policies and/or procedures to increase the efficiency of department operations and to maximize client satisfaction.   
    • Perform efficient tax research and planning.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science/Arts in Accounting; Masters of Tax preferred.
    • Certified Public Accountant license preferred but not required. 
    • 2-15 years of experience in a public accounting firm
    • Strong business writing and communication skills.
    • Solid tax research and writing skills.
    • Microsoft® Office (including PowerPoint), CCH ProSystem(fx)®, Engagement®, and other tax compliance and research software proficiency.
    • General understanding of international tax including but not limited to; Form 2555, 5471, 5472, 8938, Fincen 114 and OVDP
    • Experience preparing Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Packages, including ones under IRS' streamline procedures.
