Position Overview
The Millroom Operator is responsible for performing tasks in all areas of the Millroom, including Banbury, Chemical Weigh-Up, Warm-Up Mill, and Slab-Off Mill. This role involves operating equipment safely and efficiently while following established processes to produce quality compound materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Millroom equipment, controls, temperature recorders, and cycle clocks.
- Properly use all control systems and follow standard operating procedures.
- Understand raw material codes, mixing instructions, accelerators, cure systems, oils, and DLCs.
- Ensure batch-to-batch consistency and verify materials before mixing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the mixing process and slab-off procedures.
- Complete in-process inspection sheets and production reports accurately.
- Maintain clean equipment and work areas.
- Participate in inventory processes as needed.
- Rotate through all areas of the department.
- Perform all duties assigned within the Millroom.
Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure.
- Comfortable working in dusty environments and with temperature fluctuations.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) and perform bending and lifting.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Must follow all safety procedures.
