Job Summary
This position is responsible for creating CNC programs from construction drawings with proper material assignments and machining using Microvellum and CAD software. The incumbent will be required to create machine code from both the standard library and from the creation of custom products. Incumbent will require knowledge of materials used in fabrication along with their specifications in order to create fully machined nest drawings for a CNC controlled 3-axis overhead router. Additionally, incumbent needs to have the ability to develop 2D CAD shop drawings from architectural and interior design drawings for submittal and eventually construction.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities
Interpret construction drawings in order to build products and parts through Microvellum with full machining for joinery and hardware which will be nested and have CNC G-code generated.
· Assess the drawings to determine the proper starting product to be modified to create new custom products; ability to create custom products in Microvellum or CAD.
· Assign proper materials to products with attention to thickness, board sizes and grain/pattern directions.
· Include and assign machining to parts for all applicable hardware including hinges, pulls, drawer slides, grommets, access panels, row holes, etc.
· Understanding of basic machine operations and distinguishing proper tooling to assign for each machining action.
· Create organized nest drawings to be used by the machine operator.
· Work directly with shop floor personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous product and process improvements.
· Callaboration with sales, purchasing and field service providers.
· Interpret architectural and interior design drawings to create 2D construction drawings using CAD software. (preferably course taught.)
· Provide complete, detailed and accurate drawings to manufacture operations adhering to customers’ needs and any applicable codes and regulations.
· Prepare construction information (i.e. drawings, cut lists, BOM) providing the necessary information for programming, machining and assembly operations.
· Develop and modify existing products from established standard specifications.
· Prepare approval drawings that ensure all the essential product information is signed off by the customer.
· All other duties and projects as assigned.
Work Environment
As Plymold is a manufacturer of custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and casework products; the incumbent could also be exposed to dust, various temperatures, fumes and loud noise in the factory or job site setting. Due to regular time spent in these areas, the incumbent must be able to tolerate some exposure to these workplace characteristics. The incumbent must also follow all company safety procedures; including wearing required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.
Physical Requirements
The role requires occasional time on the production floor and interaction with manufacturing teams. The employee must be able to move throughout the facility, communicate effectively, and perform light physical tasks as needed. Competencies
· Education: Formal education (i.e. 2-year degree) beyond high school or comparable work experience is preferred as background for this position.
· Experience: 3+ years’ experience as cabinetmaker or similar required; also seek previous work experience in similar role.
· Must possess extensive and current knowledge of product, options pricing and product applications, along with understanding application and modification capabilities.
· Strong understanding of store fixtures and design engineering are required.
· Must have a strong ability to work with layouts, drawings, and other documents to determine a customer's product needs and make recommendations for improvement to existing layouts; willingness to seek out answers to information that may not be provided.
· Must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to “read” the personality of the customer and be alert and inquisitive to identify customer needs.

· Travel: Minimal travel among customer sites may be requested from time to time
