Curriculum Specialist / Continuing Education Coordinator
Job Purpose
This position reports to the executive director and is responsible for developing curricula and coordinating continuing education for the MeJATC. This position works out of the MeJATC Training Center in Greenfield, WI.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum and lesson plans for various field-related training programs for all levels of students in the Journeyman Wireman (JW), Construction Wireman (CW) and Construction Electrician (CE) programs
- Submits continuing education courses/seminars to the State of WI for CEU approval and maintains those CEU approvals
- Cultivate a quality relationship with instructors to promote an open environment for collaboration between management and instructors
- Regularly meets with students looking for input on course offerings and program effectiveness
- Recruit and hire new instructors
- Coordinates Instructor Certifications and training for all Continuing Education Staff
- Updates all the curriculum within the CW/CE programs to align with the apprenticeship Curriculum and throughout the continuing education program
- Plans seminar and course offerings for each semester
- Creates descriptions and bios for courses/seminars on the MeJATC website registration
- Networks and coordinates vendors and guest speakers for presentations
- Reviews and approves stipend and tuition reimbursements for applicable classifications
- Manages instructor payroll and submits them to the Executive Director
- Rent equipment for class use
- Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director and the MeJATC Committee
- Works closely with the Technology Instructor on courses offered to multiple programs
- Maintain course/seminar records for WI CEUs for student records
- Attends curriculum advisory meetings
- Works with all Community-Based Organizations and High Schools to promote our industry to area youth
- Coordinate/attend high school career fairs and visits to the JATC with or as a representative of the Executive Director when needed
- Attend the MATC Construction Electrician Apprenticeship Advisory Committee as a representative of the JATC
- Work in coordination with Student Services to Requisition materials for class use
- Assist JATC code consultant and Technologies Instructor with duties as needed
- Submits annual work plans to the Training Director by May 1st of each year
- Performs all other duties as directed by the Executive Director
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of formal classroom teaching experience.
- Public speaking to a diverse group of 50 or more.
- Ability to work with and mentor a diverse group of people.
- Ability to stay organized and keep to a schedule.
- Ability to work independently.
- Varied schedule to meet class demands, often requiring day and evening hours
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented.
- Strong ability to multitask.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
- Experience/Knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-10 years of Electrical field experience.
- Minimum of 1-year training students in Electrical field installations either in the classroom or the field.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Physical demands within this position include but are not limited to frequent standing, sitting, walking, listening, focusing, using depth perception, and use of hands to handle or touch objects. Long periods of time spent on the computer- typing, using the telephone, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching above shoulders. Lifting up to 20+ pounds when needed, working in different weather conditions, and walking on uneven surfaces at job sites may be required. The position may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, a vest, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety shoes when needed.

The MeJATC's sponsoring organizations are the IBEW Local 494 and the Milwaukee Chapter of NECA. Each sponsoring organization appoints three individuals, who comprise the MeJATC. The MeJATC selects a Chairman and Secretary from its members. Its mission is to provide education and training for union employees in the electrical trade.
