    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The STEAM ADVENTURE SITE COORDINATOR at Cedar Riverside Community School in Minneapolis is responsible for upholding STEAM Adventure's mission and goals, working directly with the program Director, overseeing the STEAM Adventure curriculum, creative and recreational enrichment activities, regulatory paperwork, parental engagement, as well as basic administrative tasks inside the classroom.  

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Engage one-on-one with families and establish a sustained relationship 
    • Oversee and coordinate with STEAM Adventure Teachers and staff in curriculum and activity implementation 
    • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners
    • Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized
    • Assist in various roles throughout the center as needed including (but not limited to) substitute teaching, food distribution, or managing transportation
    • Planning and attending field trips
    • Hiring, firing, and evaluating staff
    • Utilization and management of STEAM Adventure's Kinderlime software
    • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, daily rosters, logbook documentation, and attendance records
    • Assist in completing child and program evaluations
    • Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.
    • Ensure compliance with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) requirements, paperwork, and billing guidelines
    • Oversee NAEYC standards
    • Meet enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives

    Requirements

    Qualifications - Required

    • At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and how to ensure their application within the classrooms and site
    • A genuine love for children and a strong desire to make a wide-reaching individual and social impact
    • Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills
    • CPR, First Aid Certification, AED Certification, or a willingness to obtain them within 30 days of hire date
    • Meet specific state guidelines for working in proximity to children and within a school environment
    • Minimum 21 years of age
    • Able to plan, organize, and execute developmentally appropriate program activities
    • Excellent skills in human relations
    • Ability to work with diverse populations
    • Must be proficient in computer use, including Word, Google Drive, Inbox management, minimum 50 WPM typing, highly accurate data entry skills, and the ability to learn and utilize new software.
    • Lift a minimum of 40 pounds and assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children
    • Be able to assist children with day-to-day needs when applicable

    Qualifications - Preferred

    • Meet NAEYC accreditation requirements
    • Previous experience working with diverse populations
    • Bilingual candidates proficient-fluent in Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Hmong, and/or Spanish are highly encouraged to apply

    Work Conditions

    • Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
    • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/ dangerous situations.
    • May provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, lifting, reading, writing, feeding, and getting in or out of transportation.
    • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions, accidents, etc., as a part of the child care environment.
    • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
    • Ability to travel locally to program sites.
