    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Mine Closure Project Manager to be based out of any our locations in the western United States. This is a full-time role.

    The person in this position will work on and lead projects and develop opportunities that enhance our mine closure and remediation practice.

We are seeking a leader with major project delivery experience with proven ability to build and lead technical teams in the development of mine closure plans and implementation of mine closure projects.

    As an experienced professional in mine closure planning, remediation, and reclamation, you will bring specific technical expertise, sophisticated regulatory understanding, leadership skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit along with a keen interest in evolving and growing the business and mentoring staff. Your demonstrated commitment to safety along with a strong operational understanding of safety risks in mining environments, and ability to mentor employees to support a safe work culture will supplement AECOM’s existing safety culture.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Working closely with AECOM personnel in United States and Internationally to develop and implement mine closure plans and remedial solutions for clients in the private and public sector that meet regulatory requirements and protect human health and the environment.
    • Collaboration with, and coordination of, diverse technical teams including hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, water treatment specialists, biologists, revegetation, costing specialists, etc. to develop integrated mine closure plans that meet technical and regulatory requirements.
    • Reviewing technical work plans and cost estimates; interpreting data; conducting remediation/closure technology evaluations and feasibility studies.
    • Technical and financial management of projects to meet commitments on budget, quality and schedule.
    • Development of proposals, delivery of projects, and technical review of reports for regulatory submission (e.g., studies, research projects, closure plans, permit applications, management plans).
    • Periodically attending site visits to proposed, operating or closed mines in support of client relationship building, proposal development and project delivery.
    • Business-development activities including building and maintaining existing and new client relationships, tracking marketing leads and project opportunities, developing proposals and presentations, networking, and sharing AECOM’s capabilities with existing and potential clients.
    • Additionally, the selected candidate will be involved in client and regulatory communication, staff mentoring.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, etc.) and 8+ years of related experience within mine closure, remediation, or reclamation projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
    • Valid driver's license
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, etc)
    • 15+ years of technical experience within mine closure, remediation, and reclamation
    • Proficiency in scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
    • Professional licensure in at least one mining jurisdiction (for example, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, or Arizona)
    • Civil engineering design, preferably in earthworks and grading
    • Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to align interdisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives
    • Proficient technical writing experience for detailed design reports and regulatory document submissions.
    • MSHA Surface Miner training
    • 40hr HAZWOPER training

    • Travel will likely be required in this position, but is flexible
