Turner Staffing Group is seeking a highly experienced Mine Manager to support a mining operation in the Clayton, Idaho area. This is a short-term leadership assignment expected to last approximately 2–6 months and requires a seasoned professional capable of overseeing site operations, supporting production targets, and ensuring safe and efficient mine performance.
The Mine Manager will provide on-site operational leadership and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, processing, and corporate stakeholders to maintain production continuity and operational standards.
Position Overview
The Mine Manager will be responsible for overseeing open-pit mining operations, ensuring safe and efficient production, and supporting operational planning, budgeting, and workforce leadership. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working closely with technical teams and site personnel while maintaining operational discipline and safety performance.
This position requires regular on-site presence (4–5 days per week minimum) and the ability to be on-call as needed to support site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for open-pit mining operations
Ensure safe and efficient production in alignment with operational plans
Work closely with mine engineering, geology, and operations teams to support mine planning and production goals
Monitor operational performance and ensure adherence to production targets and safety standards
Support budgeting, cost control, and capital expenditure management
Coordinate with maintenance and processing teams to ensure operational continuity
Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements
Provide guidance and leadership to site supervisors and operational personnel
Participate in operational meetings and communicate performance updates to leadership
Support continuous improvement initiatives across mine operations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field strongly preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
Minimum 10 years of mining industry experience
At least 5 years in roles with increasing responsibility in Mine Engineering or Mine Management
Proven experience managing open-pit mining operations
Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities in operational environments
Experience working within operational budgets and capital cost expectations
Ability to lead teams and coordinate cross-functional operations
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Must be authorized to work in the US without work visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors systems
Experience managing short-term operational transitions or project-based assignments
Background working with contract mining or consulting teams
Work Environment
Active open-pit mining operation
Regular on-site presence required (4–5 days per week minimum)
Availability to be on-call for operational needs
Fast-paced operational environment requiring strong situational awareness and leadership
