    JOB DESCRIPTION

    ABOUT MINERVA SCHOOLS AT KGI

Minerva, based in San Francisco, California, offers a unique undergraduate experience for the brightest, most motivated students in the world. Minerva has been deliberately designed to teach the capabilities needed to solve complex challenges. Combining a reinvented curriculum, rigorous academic standards, cutting-edge technology, and an immersive global experience, Minerva provides an exceptional and accessible education to prepare future leaders and innovators across all disciplines. Minerva formed an alliance with Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), a WASC-accredited institution and one of the Claremont Colleges, to establish the Minerva Schools at KGI in 2013.

Minerva undergraduate students come from all over the world to spend their first year in residence in San Francisco, and then live and study in a different major world city every semester thereafter: Seoul, Hyderabad, Berlin, Buenos Aires, London, and Taipei. These rich international experiences provide students with deep global understanding and skills.

    ROLE

Minerva is seeking an experienced Residential Life/Student Affairs professional to join the Student Affairs & Operations team. Reporting to the Chief Student Affairs Officer and Global Director of Student Affairs, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is the live-in professional with overall responsibility for supporting students in one of the two Minerva residence halls in San Francisco. The role requires high-level interfacing with prospective and enrolled students, families, and other external constituents. The RLC works closely with the Mental Health, Student Services, Student Experience, Technology, and Outreach teams at Minerva. The two coordinators are also the central conduit of information between Minerva staff and first-year students. These roles are best suited to those who love working directly with students on a daily basis and want to develop their skills as student affairs professionals. • Developing and implementing programming that supports the wellbeing of first-year Minerva students, including sexual health education, prevention of sexual harassment and assault, alcohol and substance education, financial literacy, wellness, time management, and support for healthy eating.
    • Handling operational matters related to the residence hall with the building owner and management staff.
    • Clarifying and enforcing policies with regard to student conduct, housing, guest policy, visa regulations, and emergency procedures.
    • Guiding first-year students with regard to payment status, residential agreements, roommate agreements, health insurance coverage, accommodations for students with disabilities, access to medical care, and other student concerns.
    • Coordinating roommate matches and all related issues, including roommate conflicts and room swaps during the year.
    • Facilitating communications to students through established Minerva platforms such as The Week and The Morning, social media, and in-person.
