The Plant Electrician oversees complex electrical troubleshooting, system upgrades, and control system support. Ensures high reliability of plant electrical systems. May mentor junior electricians.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair high- and low-voltage systems, motor controls, and drives.
- Install and maintain PLCs, VFDs, and control circuits.
- Lead electrical projects and ensure code compliance.
- Mentor Electrician I and II personnel and support cross-training.
- Interface with automation, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Maintain technical documentation and update panel schematics.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3-5 years of industrial or heavy manufacturing electrical experience.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex schematics and control diagrams.
- Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
- Licensed or certified as a journeyman electrician preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- High level of safety and quality.
- Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
- Forklift experience - Preferred.
- Computer Software - Preferred.
- Warehouse experience - Preferred.
