    This is a non-partisan position, and the expectation is that the successful candidate will remain free from political party affiliation, bias, or designation the duration of the appointment.

    SALARY: $32.08/hour

    TELEWORK: This position works on-site in the Capitol and Minnesota Senate Building.

    DAYS OF WORK/HOURS: Monday-Friday/ Work hours will vary. This position requires long and irregular hours during the legislative session, including occasional evening and weekend work.

    APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-time/Temporary

    APPOINTMENT DURATION: This position will start in early January 2023 with an anticipated end date of late May 2023.

    DEPARTMENT: Senate Media Services

    REPORTS TO: Director of Senate Media Services

    CLOSING DATE: This position will be open until filled. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.

    Position Summary

    This position will produce gavel-to-gavel coverage of Senate proceedings, including floor sessions, committee hearings and press conferences that informs the public of Senate actions. The Producer will work collaboratively with the Senate Media team in the production control rooms.

    In this temporary position, you will not be eligible for health benefits. However, you will be eligible for holiday pay, deferred compensation, our employee assistance program (EAP), staff parking, and Metro Transit options.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Writing, Producing, Visual Communications/On-Camera Techniques, or related area of study.

    OR

    Two (2) years of experience in television, cable, industrial video production, technical and aesthetic production aspects of visual communications, or related.

    In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

    • Ability to work in a non-partisan capacity, supporting all members and staff regardless of party affiliation or position.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of television production.

    Competencies

    • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with Senate staff and members.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple on-going projects.
