    Who May Apply: Open to MN Senate employees only

    Salary: The salary range is $74,083 - $128,204. Starting salary is based on professional work experience, qualifications, and related legislative/government experience.

    Telework: This position works on-site in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol during the legislative session. When the legislature is not in session, flexible hybrid options may be available.

    Days of Work/Hours: Monday-Friday/8am-5pm. This position requires long and irregular hours and the ability to meet tight deadlines during the legislative session, including evening and weekend work. Additional paid time off will be available.

    Reports to: Senate Majority Leader and Senior Leadership Advisor

    Position Summary

    The Executive Assistant to the Majority Leader provides a variety of skilled administrative functions, organizes, and implements the administrative support for the Senate Majority. This position exists to provide organization, communication, and research as the point of contact between the public, legislative staff, senate leadership, and the Majority Leader. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Majority Leader and requires discretion and mature judgment. The position also acts as the Committee Administrator for the Rules Committee, of which the Majority Leader is the Chair.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related area of study.

    OR

    Three (3) years of experience in administrative support.

    AND

    Experience coordinating or leading projects, teams/committees, and events.

    In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

    • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
    • Excellent time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to determine priorities and to plan, coordinate, and organize work and to respond appropriately when several tasks demand attention simultaneously.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and produces a high-quality work product.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.

    Competencies

    • Ability to take direction while using independent judgment.
    • Proficient and demonstrated competency in MS Office applications.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple on-going projects.
