    Léon 1909in Shelter Island, NY is seeking an experienced full-time Sous Chef to join our team.

    Léon 1909 (leon1909.com) is a countryside French & Italian restaurant located on beautiful Shelter Island in The Hamptons.

    The ideal candidate loves food, respects creativity, is empathetic, and has a passion for hospitality. You are skilled at maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure and value leadership. Your growth potential is strong.

    Position:

    • Sous Chef

    Compensation:

    • $60-70K salary
    • Paid Weekly
    • Medical
    • Paid time off
    • Paid sick days

    Other incentives:

    Schedule requirements:

    • 4 days a week between October and April (except holiday weeks)
    • 5 days a week between May and September. 
    • 10-12 hours daily

    Language requirements:

    • English
    • Spanish

    Experience:

    • 3+ years of previous line cooking experience in a high-volume upscale casual or fine-dining restaurant
    • 2+ years of management experience in a high-volume upscale casual or fine-dining restaurant
    • Food safety knowledge (certification preferred)
    • P & L management (maintaining food costs, maximizing profitability)
    • Ordering & receiving, inventory
    • Staff training and motivation
    • Staff scheduling (monitor daily to ensure appropriate staffing levels)
    • Payroll
    • Managing 5-10 people
