    Job Description

    The Business Banker Lead position has a wide variety of responsibilities and duties: These include: the administration and efficient daily operation of a full-service business banking center, including operations, lending, product sales, customer service, and security and safety in accordance with the Bank’s objectives. Thorough knowledge of the Bank’s products and services including Treasury Management and business and individual loans and lines of credit. Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase or retain existing business relationships. Provides a superior level of customer relations and promotes the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation. Opens and processes all types of new accounts and assists customers in choosing appropriate types of accounts and other services; Accepts retail and commercial checking and savings deposits, processes loan payments, cashes checks and savings withdrawals; Provides superior specialized service to our customers for problem resolution, information, and account servicing; Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations; Helps maintain Business Banking Center security.

    1. Ensures organization of the BBC, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
    2. Responsible for marketing objectives of the area serviced by the BBC; identifies and pursues potential sources of business and other strategies to meet established goals and directives; documents the effectiveness of the BBC’s marketing plan and makes recommendations to upper management as appropriate.
    3. Assures audit compliance and procedure quality control and recommends and initiates corrective actions; ensures that the BBC is in compliance with established Bank policies, procedures and state and federal regulations.
    4. Contributes to the overall profitability of the BBC; implements costs controls, income generation, and BBC marketing efforts; monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget.
    5. Interviews customers to obtain information; promotes and cross-sells the Bank’s products and services by using professional sales techniques to assist customers in their selections to meet their needs.
    6. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); checks credit history; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts and certificates of deposit for processing.
    7. Expert knowledge of Treasury Management products and services. Ability to sell all Treasury Management products independently.
    8. Maintain and establish a customer base acting as customer advisor and take full ownership of the customers’ relationship.
      1. Proactively looks to expand client base by cultivating referral relationships, participating in networking functions, soliciting/telemarketing target market clients/prospects and building a book of business in the local community.
      1. Responsible for acquiring and servicing business relationships, in accordance with set goals including: multiple business and individual deposit accounts, Treasury Management services, all loans and lines of credit, merchant accounts and all product lines available.
    9. Provides effective customer service by answering customer questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues.
    10. Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary deposit documents are in proper form, and issuing receipts. Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
    11. Cashes checks, savings withdrawals, makes cash advances, and accepts loan, installment and collection payments. Confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
    12. Issues official checks, money orders, traveler’s checks and savings bond applications.
    13. Balances cash differences as it relates to general ledger accounts and Business Banking Center cash totals.
    14. Records, files, microfilms, updates information, prepares wire transfers and sorts mail or reports as required.
    15. Gathers data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.)
    16. Processes credit reports, credit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, endorsement stamp orders, ATM deposits, incoming and outgoing collections, incoming and outgoing wires, credit ratings, certifications, change orders and deposit slip corrections. Debit card orders and maintenance.
    17. Processes statements, renewal notices, and interest payments for IRA and certificate of deposit accounts.
    18. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; prepares and processes incoming and outgoing shipments; and assists in balancing vault currency and coin. Adheres to cash control, cash limits, key control, opening and closing procedures, loss prevention and liability and other security issues as presented in the Security Manual.
    19. Gathers data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.)
    20. Records, files, scans, updates information, prepares wire transfers and sorts mail or reports as required

    Desired Requirements

    • Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in Business Banking Center operation activities, terminology and products and services.
    • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
    • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
    • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
    • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Project a businesslike professionalism to the client in both appearance and manner.
    • Possess a strong customer service orientation, and a willingness to place the customer first.
    • Possess strong written/verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational/time management skills.
    • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; and word processing and spreadsheet software.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
    • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
