    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned) 

    We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Bioinformatics Scientist who can bring their knowledge of Bioinformatics, NGS assays and analysis methods to take a key role in the data analysis and biological interpretation of Mission Bio’s single cell genomic and multi-omic assays. The successful candidate will have the fantastic opportunity to work on first of its kind single cell multi-omics data which is named the method of the year 2019 by Nature.

    • Lead the development of bioinformatics pipelines and data analysis methods that will be used to guide development of a variety of single cell applications
    • Investigate datasets to undercover trends and root cause of errors that impact system performance
    • Participate in the design of experiments, build analysis tools and performance metrics that will allow continual monitoring of assay performance
    • Communicate analysis results to internal and external stakeholders
    • Collaborate with research scientists, marketing, and customers to support project planning and commercial launch

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The candidate should have:

    • PhD or Master’s in bioinformatics, computational biology fields. 5+ years industry experience or relevant academia experience required
    • Extensive experience with analysis of large NGS datasets for applications including variant calling, copy number detection, gene expression, protein expression
    • Experience working with single-cell data and/or good understanding of the signal and noise in single cell data. Experience with multi omics data is a plus
    • Strong computational and programming skills in Python (preferred) and/or R and hands-on experience working with statistical and machine learning packages
    • Experience applying statistical and mathematical models to complex and noisy datasets is a plus
    • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools and packages is a plus
    • Familiarity with common bioinformatics databases and tools, next generation sequencing technology and assays
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaborative team spirit
    • Must be able to think independently, work collaboratively and contribute to a fast-paced environment
