This Isn't Your Average Wrench-Turning Job
Imagine this: you roll up to a construction site, a farm, or a manufacturing floor in your own fully-equipped mobile workshop. A machine is down. Everyone's waiting. You open the van, assess the problem, fabricate the part, and fix it — on the spot. The crew is back to work. You're the hero. Then you drive to the next call.
That's life as a Mobile Service & Sales Technician (MSST) with PIRTEK — and it's genuinely as cool as it sounds.
This role is part technician, part problem-solver, part trusted advisor. You're not stuck at a desk or anchored to a shop floor. You own your territory, build real relationships with real customers, and get paid to be the person who shows up when things go sideways. If you love working with your hands, crave variety, and want a career that actually builds into something — keep reading.
About PIRTEK — The Company You'd Actually Want to Work For
PIRTEK is the nation's leading provider of on-site hydraulic and industrial hose assembly and replacement. We operate 24/7/365 with a 1-hour emergency ETA promise — because when a machine goes down, every minute of downtime costs our customers real money.
Our mission is simple: keep the world moving. Construction equipment, agriculture, manufacturing, marine, mining — if it runs on hydraulics, PIRTEK keeps it running. We do this through a network of service centers and a fleet of purpose-built mobile units staffed by technicians who are trained, equipped, and empowered to solve problems fast.
Our core values aren't just wall art — they're how we actually operate:
People — We build a culture of mutual trust and respect. You matter here.
Integrity — We do what we say. Fair, honest, always.
Real — No corporate fluff — we're transparent with everyone we work with.
Teamwork — You'll have backup. Always.
Excellence — We raise the bar, constantly.
Kaizen — We're always improving — and we want people who love to grow.
So... What Exactly Is an MSST?
MSST stands for Mobile Service & Sales Technician. It's a title unique to PIRTEK — and it covers a lot of ground (literally).
You'll be dispatched from our Stockton, CA service center in a purpose-built mobile workshop — think a fully loaded van with fabrication tools, a hose inventory, and everything you need to handle service calls in the field. Your customers range from construction sites and industrial facilities to farms and fleets. When their hydraulic or industrial hose fails, you're who they call.
But you're not just fixing things — you're also building relationships and growing a book of business. That's the sales side. You're an ambassador for PIRTEK in your territory, and the trust you build with customers directly shapes your success.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Every day is different. Here's the core of what this role looks like:
Respond to service calls and sales visits across your assigned Stockton-area territory
Diagnose failed or worn hydraulic and industrial hoses on-site
Fabricate and install replacement hose assemblies using your mobile workshop
Manage fluid spills and environmental containment per safety standards
Log service details and generate accurate invoices through our online system
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers — you're their go-to
Conduct proactive follow-up visits to ensure customer satisfaction and encourage Google reviews
Keep your mobile unit, tools, and inventory organized and ready
Participate in the rotating on-call schedule (with extra incentive pay — it's worth it)
Follow all PIRTEK and industry safety protocols — non-negotiable
What You Bring to the Table
You don't need hydraulic experience on day one — we'll train you. What we can't train is drive, character, and a genuine love for hands-on work. Here's what makes someone great at this role:
Natural problem-solver — you see a broken thing and your brain immediately starts working on a fix
Mechanically inclined and comfortable with hand tools and specialized equipment
Self-motivated with a positive attitude, especially when the job gets messy (and it will)
Strong communicator — clear, honest, and professional with customers and teammates
Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in diverse environments (indoors, outdoors, industrial sites)
Comfortable sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and stooping for extended periods
Can safely operate a large work van in varying road and site conditions
The Basics (Required)
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check
Based in or willing to commute to Stockton, CA
Bonus points (but not required):
Experience in industrial, construction, agricultural, marine, or automotive mechanics
Familiarity with hydraulic systems, fluid power, or hose fabrication
Previous customer-facing or sales experience
Your Home Base: Stockton, CA
This role is based out of our Stockton, California service center. Stockton sits at the heart of the Central Valley — one of the most industrially and agriculturally active regions in the state. That means constant demand for exactly what you'll be doing.
You'll serve a defined territory in and around the greater Stockton area, which means you're home every night. No long-haul travel, no living out of a hotel. You'll get to know your customers and your territory well — and that familiarity is one of the biggest advantages you'll have.
Ready to Build Something Real?
Here's the truth: this job isn't glamorous every day. It's physically demanding, sometimes messy, and you'll face problems that don't have clean solutions. But it's also deeply satisfying — the kind of work where you end the day knowing exactly what you accomplished.
We're building something in Stockton. The PIRTEK name is growing, the demand is real, and the right person in this role has every opportunity to grow with it — financially, professionally, and in their craft.
If you're the kind of person who gets genuinely excited about solving hard problems, who takes pride in doing good work, and who wants to be part of something that matters — we'd love to meet you.
