The Mold Designer plays a pivotal role in meeting our customer's expectations. This critical hire will participate and manage assigned projects from start to finish. Will interact with and coordinate the design and development of each project with the customer, inside manufacturing, outside contractors, and vendors.
Upon project approval, the Mold Designer will work with our manufacturing team members to manufacture their assigned project for high quality, on- time delivery of each custom mold.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiate preliminary and final mold designs to customer specifications and utilize CAD software to create detailed solid 3D mold assemblies.
Study specs, 3d customer data, work orders and manufacturing input to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and project budget.
Study the moldflow/cool/warp analysis and use these reports to optimize the mold design for a successful outcome.
Develop bill of materials and details as required to manufacture.
Create and sustain effective two-way customer communication throughout the mold design project.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure customer objectives are communicated, understood and fulfilled.
Requirements:
More than five (5) years of 3D design experience as a plastic injection mold designer within a manufacturing environment.
SMC compression mold design experience beneficial.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail and organization required.
Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
A self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to jump in and get to work with minimal direction and supervision.
Siemens NX12 with Moldwizard experience beneficial although we are willing to explore other CAD systems.
Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; walk; use a stairway; and reach with hands and arms.
