    Job Description

    The Payroll Supervisor will supervise 3 payroll representatives, ensuring that all processes are executed accurately and in a timely manner. He or she operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives. Optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching, counseling and implements workable solutions to business issues/problems with minimum referral to upper management. Conducts work planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize performance of team and works with Director to define standards and reusable approaches for Payroll operations. This individual manages effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility, is responsible to manage and process payrolls for their own book of business, and builds client relationships in the wider group or unit.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Interprets day-to-day client payroll objectives and ensures proper preparation/execution of payroll transactions for own book of clients/business
    • Supervises payroll staff of 3
    • Manages monthly system training with tests, coordinated with Department’s System Manager
    • Responsible to create and maintain written payroll procedures
    • Responsible for self-development and staying on top of applicable payroll regulations
    • Supervises and coordinates fiscal and calendar year-end processing procures for payroll, including managing deadlines and requirements as set forth by the organization
    • Escalates potential service issues to Director and maintains communications with all other departments,
    • Interprets Company policies and Federal and State regulations affecting payroll procedures; resolves inquiries and complaints from clients and employees arising from interpretations of payroll regulations
    • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service
    • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

    PROFESSIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5+ Years’ experience with multi-state payroll
    • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels
    • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role
