    TITLE: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

    LOCATION: SAN DIEGO, REMOTE

    STATUS: FULL TIME, EXEMPT

    REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER 

    THE BIG PICTURE

    The Modern Times Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting and execution of the brewery. The CFO is an active presence in all discussions related to the growth strategy of the company and its various divisions, in decisions related to the continued growth and success of all employees. Candidates must share Modern Times' commitments to quality, safety, business ethics, and continuous innovation.

    THE EVERYDAY VIEW

    •  Assisting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in developing business scenarios and financial plans

    •  Developing plans for growth to increase company profit while also analyzing spending for proper reduction of expenditures and waste

    •  Identifying investment opportunities, banking, and finance strategies working with existing and potential new investors.

    •  Managing accounting procedures, company audits, and ESOP/investor administration

    •  Managing and ensuring compliance in finance, ESOP, TTB, and with other regulatory matters

    • Executing the company's financial strategy

    • Overseeing the supply chain team, logistics, and continual improvement of processes and procedures.

    • Analyzing the supply chain and improving performance

    •  Leading the team to optimize transportation, fleet, inventory building an effective and effective source, make, delivering system

    •  Develop and execute comprehensive strategic operating plans, including standardization of processes and performance metrics that meet or exceed performance goals

    •  Forecast issues in advance to prevent potential impacts; both internally and externally

    •  Highly collaborative style in working with other leaders to help grow a high-performing customer-centered business

    •  Ensuring compliance with transportation and TTB requirements

    •  Providing leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team

    •  Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration

    •  Maintain separation of duties for outgoing cash (checks, wires, bill.com)

    •  Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues on a weekly basis

    • Oversee the preparation and filing of state excise, federal TTB, & state sales tax

    •  Manage all retail property lease agreements including percentage rent calculations for landlords

    •  Maintain a detailed schedule for all leases (capital and operating)

    •  Act as the point person for all auditor related communication and on-site work

    •  Be a team player and able to interact with all levels within the organization

    •  Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations

    •  Other tasks as needed

    THE STRATEGIC VIEW

    • Lead the finance and operations division in both short- and long-term projects that align with the strategic goals of the company
    • Be responsible for the overall performance, engagement, and attitude of the finance division and its personnel
    • Guide collaboration between your division and other divisions in the organization; harmonizing varying priorities is imperative to overall company success
    •  Proactively seek out education and training on best management practices to continually better your skills and abilities as a leader
    •  Thorough knowledge of Modern Times Values

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
    • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
    •  Minimum of 5 years experience in financial management
    • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
    • A degree in finance, business management, or another related field or equivalent work experience
    • The ability to digest numbers and data into actionable pieces of information for the CEO and executive team
    • Strong financial and accounting background
    • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire team members
    • Proven experience in solving problems in a lean and competitive business environment.
    • People-oriented mindset, servant-leader style, with the finesse to know when to collaborate and when to decide.
    • Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes
    • MS Office proficiency a must
    • QuickBooks proficiency is highly preferred
    • Financial modeling experience required
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • A strategic and analytical mind
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a love for meeting and interacting with people
    • Thorough attention to detail and desire to take initiative
    • Must adhere to company's policies and procedures
    • The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • Up to 20% travel time may be required

    •  Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards
