    Today’s HR is a Human Resources Outsourcing firm based in Burbank, California. The Payroll Department is in charge of processing payroll for an array of clients, from small start-ups to large multi-state organizations. We pay approximately 30,000 employees in 46 states. The payroll department works under an alternative workweek schedule – working ten hour days, four days per week.

    PAYROLL AUDITOR

    The person in this position will be responsible for reviewing all payroll reports and documents for accuracy based on compliance with appropriate state and federal regulations. The audits will be performed for multiple clients with various backgrounds, contacts, pay cycles, and requirements as they relate to payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years payroll experience, auditing experience and/or a degree in Finance, Business as well as other payroll credentials. He/she must be able to multi-task; must work well under pressure and deadlines; must maintain high levels of confidentiality and must be able to work as part of a team as well as with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written expression, attention to detail and proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (especially Excel and Access), Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and the Internet are a must. Working knowledge of any payroll processing software is a plus.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • audit payroll records and reports, payroll hours, new hire entries, employee changes, client billing (administration fee, workers’ compensation, etc.) and all taxes;
    • create, input and edit audit reports prior to payroll release to clients;
    • communicate and follow up with payroll representatives regarding discrepancies;
    • processes and audits client employee garnishments;
    • verification of client set-up in processing system (HRP);
    • audit calculations and supporting documentation for retros and adjustments;
    • review reports and research variances for resolution (i.e., minimum wage compliance, overtime calculations, proper deductions, accrued benefits);
    • document reporting errors and omissions;
    • complete audit checklist/report for each audit and communicate results to appropriate payroll representative and
    • set up garnishments in HRIS system and serves as support for payroll staff.
