    RISK & SAFETY SPECIALIST

    The person in this position is responsible for establishing and promoting the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment for clients in a variety of industries and sizes, with a focus on the healthcare/skilled nursing industry. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Healthcare or related field as well as 2-3 years of safety/loss control or healthcare risk management experience; must be familiar with Cal/OSHA regulations and have experience writing safety policies and programs; must be able to multi-task; must work well under pressure and deadlines; must maintain high levels of confidentiality; must be a team player as well as able to work with minimal supervision and must be comfortable speaking in front of groups. Excellent customer service, excellent verbal and written expression and proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the Internet are a must. ASP/CSP designation a plus. Position requires frequent overnight travel throughout California.

    RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Formulates written safety policies and procedures to be followed by client companies or personnel in compliance with the start and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
    • Inspects client worksites to detect existing or potential employee accident or health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures as appropriate.
    • Establishes relationships with client management, employees and safety committees in order to influence and improve safety culture.
    • Conducts safety training for various levels of management and employees. Analyzes client history and develops appropriate loss control service plan
    • Conducts accident investigations and identifies the cause(s) while applying appropriated corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Safety Studies or related disciplines preferred
    • Three years of Environmental Health & Safety experience preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
    • Ability to speak publicly in front of large groups
    • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and effectively and professionally deal with customers and external contacts to the Company
    • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently
    • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel.
