We assist participants with:
Healthcare access—including identifying a medical home, dental care, and wellness programs
Linkages to mental health and substance use services
Benefit enrollment—including health insurance and income support
In-house mental health counseling, therapy, and support groups addressing emotional well-being and relationship challenges
Life skills development to foster independence
Community reintegration through social activities, resource connections, and community engagement
Transportation and accompaniment services
Other essential services to promote housing stability

Join Our Team: Monitor
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Monitor to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you’ll provide direct support to residents while ensuring their rights are respected and upheld in a safe and secure environment.
This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness—all within a collaborative and supportive team setting.
Job Summary
The Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for both participants and staff. This fast-paced, client-facing role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to working with individuals impacted by homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and trauma.
Key Responsibilities
Enforce Joyous Ventures’ rules and regulations consistently
Uphold policies around alcohol/drug use, harassment, and participant conduct
Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents (e.g., theft, accidents, medical needs)
Treat all participants with dignity, fairness, and respect
De-escalate conflicts with support from the Program Manager and Clinical Social Worker
Support conflict prevention and risk-reduction strategies
Manage emergency situations, including contacting law enforcement when necessary
Participate in trainings on trauma-informed care, racial and gender sensitivity, homelessness, and safeguarding
Monitor security cameras to ensure ongoing safety
Complete accurate, timely incident reports
Change locks and manage key systems as needed
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience, preferably in a homeless shelter or related setting
Ability to think clearly and act decisively under pressure
Commitment to fairness, prevention, and de-escalation
Basic computer skills (for incident reporting and camera system navigation)
Experience in human services strongly preferred
Certifications Required:
Food Handler Certification
BLS/CPR Certification
