    JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – MSDB FOUNDATION EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

    DEPARTMENT: MSDB Foundation

    JOB TITLE: MSDB Foundation Executive Assistant

    SUPERVISOR: MSDB Superintendent / Foundation President

    STARTING SALARY: $11.50/hr to $14.50/hr depending on training and experience

    START DATE: April 1st, 2021

    LOCATION OF JOB: Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind, Great Falls MT

    STATUS: Part-Time

    CLOSING DATE: February 28th, 2021

    EMPLOYER PAID BENEFITS: Federal OASDI and Medicare, and 20 hours vacation leave the first year

    DUTIES:

    • ASL (American Sign Language) skills preferred, knowledge and experience is helpful, or agreement to learn upon hiring acceptable
    • Computer skills to include MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, email, online account uploads and updates, maintaining and updating documents and files
    • Professional verbal and written etiquette, the ability to represent MSDB and its Foundation as an ambassador
    • Office Skills to include – typing, transcribing meeting minutes, copy/printer/scanner knowledge, accurate filing, processing mail/email in a timely manner
    • Assist grant writer with all grant applications, to include all proper documentation and proper accounting procedures
    • Ensuring accessibility of meetings and documents by arranging for and/or producing enlarged or braille copies of meeting materials and by arranging for ASL interpreting services during the meetings
    • Self-motivated, reliable, personable and professional

    QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalency is required. The purpose of this position is to support the Foundation Board for quarterly meetings, manage Foundation Board correspondence for meetings and agendas, keeping and monitoring banks statements, scheduling subcommittee meetings and agendas, transcribing meeting minutes, working with fellow MSDB staff and having proper and positive interactions with students.

    The position is a part-time (20 hrs per week) for a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization. Immediate supervisors are the Foundation President and the School Superintendent. Efficient knowledge in public relations, donor relations and nonprofit work is preferred, but willingness to learn is acceptable. The Executive Assistant is also responsible to the direct supervision of the Foundation Board and is expected to coordinate closely with committee heads.

    Periodic local travel during work hours, occasional travel for off-site meetings, presentations, conference and fundraising events or training.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This agency has been declared a non-smoking environment extending to the entire campus; there are no authorized smoking areas and smoke breaks are not given. All successful candidates must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License; submit to a background check, which includes a criminal record review, and must not possess any felony or DUI convictions.

    Any person who is regularly assigned to work on the campus of MSDB, regardless of the employer, and who may have unsupervised contact with students shall submit to a fingerprint-based national criminal history background check conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

    The work performed in a typical setting at MSDB involves mostly sedentary to light physical activity, typically requiring occasional exertion of up to 20 lbs. of force. The person in this position works in multiple buildings across campus and must be able to travel independently between buildings.

    The successful candidate will have a six month probationary period, in which they will need to be able to perform the duties of the job efficiently as well as show adequate progress in American Sign Language.
