Montessori Academy of Decatur is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Montessori Assistant Teacher to join our Infant Classroom. We are a close-knit school community committed to providing a calm, respectful, and developmentally appropriate environment for our youngest learners.
Position Overview
The Montessori Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and loving classroom that follows Montessori principles and supports each child’s individual development. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and has hands-on experience working with infants.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing Montessori practices in the infant classroom
Support daily care routines, including feeding, diapering, and nap schedules
Observe and respond to infants’ developmental and emotional needs
Maintain a clean, organized, and prepared classroom environment
Foster warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff
Follow all state licensing and school policies and procedures
Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate Degree (Early Childhood Education or related field preferred)
3–5 years of experience working with infants in a childcare or Montessori setting
Knowledge of Montessori philosophy (formal Montessori training is a plus)
Patience, warmth, and a genuine love for working with infants
Strong communication and teamwork skills
