Union Hill Day School is seeking a nurturing, organized, and collaborative Montessori Preschool Teacher who understands child-led learning and can create a calm, engaging prepared environment for children ages 3–6. We are looking for an educator who values independence, grace and courtesy, and hands-on exploration—while contributing positively to a professional, team-oriented school culture.

    Position Overview

The Montessori Preschool Teacher is responsible for preparing and maintaining an authentic Montessori classroom that fosters curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth. This role requires strong observation skills, individualized instruction, and classroom management rooted in positive guidance and respect. Equally important, we value educators who communicate respectfully, assist teammates, and contribute to a unified, solution-focused approach throughout the workday.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Prepare and maintain a calm, organized Montessori environment

    · Implement individualized lessons based on observation and student readiness

    · Support practical life, sensorial, math, language, and cultural learning areas

    · Guide children using positive discipline and independence-building practices

    · Observe and document student progress

    · Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards

    · Foster professional communication with families and coworkers

    Qualifications

    · Montessori teaching credential preferred (Primary/3–6)

    · Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and materials

    · Experience with child-led learning and classroom documentation

    · Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice for preschool-aged children

    · Training in Conscious Discipline, Positive Behavior Support, or similar frameworks preferred

    · Meets state licensing requirements

    · CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

    · Background check clearance

    Personal Attributes

    · Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor

    · Organized and calm under pressure

    · Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

    · Flexible, kind, and solution-focused

    · Committed to ongoing professional growth

If you are passionate about guiding young children toward independence and lifelong learning—and value being part of a supportive, professional team—we would love to hear from you.
