POSITION TITLE: Social Media & Distribution Intern

REPORTS TO: Digital Strategist

JOB TYPE: Paid Internship

COMPENSATION: $20/hour

TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time beginning May 2, 2022 thru July 29, 2022.

LOCATION: Remote

More Perfect Union, a new progressive media organization, is looking for a Social Media & Distribution Intern to join our growing team. The Social Media & Distribution Intern will assist in driving audience growth and engagement across multiple social platforms by scheduling content, writing copy, translating performance results into actionable insights, and helping to build a distribution network to share More Perfect Union content.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting with all aspects of social distribution, including scheduling content, community management, and optimizing posts for engagement and search

• Draft and post social media content with a particular focus on Facebook and Twitter

• Identify important, interesting, or underreported stories/facts/memes and use them to create compelling social media content

• Help maintain More Perfect Union voice in headlines and copywriting across social media and website

• Monitor analytics, audience sentiments, and social media trends

• Work with Communications Director, Policy Director, and Digital Strategist to build distribution networks to share and promote content

• Update website regularly with new videos and content

• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with national politics and labor issues

• Regular user of Twitter and other social media

• A passion for economic justice

• Ability to identify and acquire new partners for distribution networks

• An excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills

• A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized, capable of meeting tight deadlines
