    Position Title: Editorial Video Fellow

    Job Type: Paid Fellowship

    Compensation: $20/hr plus up to $500/month home office expense reimbursement

    Time commitment: Full-time (M-F 9am-5pm ET), 6 month fellowship beginning May 28, 2024 through November 29, 2024.

    Location: 100% Remote, Telework

    More Perfect Union is an advocacy and journalism organization with a mission to build power for the working class. We cover politics, policy, labor, business, and economic news through a class lens, and we pair our reporting with activism to help working people win policy fights. Launched in February 2021, More Perfect Union’s coverage has garnered more than 500 million video views and 2+ million followers and subscribers.

    We’re looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Editorial Video Fellow. In this role, you’ll focus on video editing support across the organization, with opportunities to be involved in other elements of production.

    This position is perfect for an individual with entry-level video editing experience, an interest in writing and producing digital videos, strong time management and a desire to learn in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Assisting Video Editors in organizing and reviewing footage for short documentary projects;

    • Reviewing interview transcripts and identifying strong soundbites for producers;

    • Pulling video clips, news headlines, images and other media for scripts;

    • Assembling short edit sequences at the direction of Video Editors;

    • Providing research assistance, fact checking and copy editing video scripts;

    • Occasionally producing news stories, conducting interviews, and scripting videos;

    • Completing assignments from supervisor and colleagues and meeting deadlines;

    • Performing administrative duties;

    • Performing other duties as assigned.

    Experience/Qualifications:

    • Experience with Adobe Premiere desired;

    • Documentary, journalism, and/or political experience;

    • Producing, scripting, research or development experience a plus;

    • Familiarity with national politics and labor issues;

    • A passion for economic justice and workers rights;

    • Strong understanding of social media, email etiquette and exceptional interpersonal communication skills;

    • Studied or currently studying in journalism, communications, film, marketing, public relations or related field;

    • Available full-time hours and ability to excel in a remote - work from home environment;

    • Ability to operate in a nimble environment.
