    We’re hiring an exemplary writer to join us as a Writing and Social Media Fellow. We’re looking for candidates who can seize a reader’s interest with an attention-grabbing headline, then educate them by breaking down a complex news story or policy fight. You’ll be writing content for social media (i.e. carousels for Instagram or threads for X/Twitter), traditional articles, short social copy, and everything in between. Please share diverse examples of your past writing when you apply.

    The Writing and Social Media Fellow will also identify and publish content across multiple platforms, working with the team to develop and execute social distribution strategies and translating performance results into actionable insights.

    Candidates should be regular social media users with a passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues. The position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills, a desire to closely track and research news relevant to our mission, an advanced understanding of social platforms, and a desire to help develop and grow our brand.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Create a broad range of written content, from social copy to explanatory slideshows and articles, usually on tight deadlines;

    • Assist with all aspects of social distribution, including scheduling content, community management, and optimizing posts for engagement and search;

    • Help build distribution plans and strategies to increase engagement with our content;

    • Help maintain social media editorial calendar;

    • Update website regularly with new videos and content;

    • Monitor analytics, audience sentiments, and social media trends;

    • Receive assignments from supervisor and colleagues for prompt action;

    • Operate in a nimble environment;

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience/Qualifications:

    • Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues;

    • Regular user of social media;

    • An excellent writer, communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills;

    • Able to craft a distribution strategy for a particular video or story based on its topic and target audience;

    • A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized and capable of meeting tight deadlines;

    • Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
