    COMMERCIAL TITLE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER

    FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

    COMMERCIAL TITLE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER POSITION AVAILABLE FOR CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA TITLE INSURANCE AGENCY. This position is paid a base salary based on experience level of candidate. Biannual bonuses are earned and paid based on performance of the employee and business.

    The title underwriter is responsible for reviewing preliminary opinions of title research, recommending and issuing commitment in compliance with underwriting procedures and guidelines for residential and commercial properties prior to closing. They are also responsible for issuing the title policy, applying premium payments, preparing, and generating related reports.  We are an equal opportunity employer.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Draft and recommend title commitments and policies.
    • Review preliminary opinion of title from closing attorney and underwrite; apply requirements, determine exceptions and insurance coverage amount.
    • Issue commitment and make revisions as requested from closing attorney prior to closing.
    • Issue title policy upon receipt of final opinion of title from closing attorney.
    • Answer phone call requests for searches of prior policies, premium quotes, and underwriting questions.
    • Receive and apply premium payments, post payments.
    • Issue commitment revisions and policy endorsements
    • Compile information for reporting
    • Participate in developing and maintaining attorney clients business with onsite visits.
    • Review closing statements and disburse funds for commercial closings
    • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:

    ·         High school or equivalent (Preferred)

    ·         Title Insurance Commercial Underwriting: 2 years (Preferred)

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Flexible and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
    • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, independent worker with a customer service focus.
    • Proficiency with business software and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Highly developed written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.

    Other (licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel, etc.):

    • NC Licensed Title Agent preferred
