    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Camp Director, this role is responsible for coordinating all off-site scheduled and ad hoc transportation. Our Logistics Coordinator/Camp Driver role is part shuttle service and part tour guide. This seasonal role's responsibilities include being a supply courier, running camp errands, making airport and urgent care runs, and any other transportation needs. Working in conjunction with the Camp Leadership Team, the Logistics Coordinator will plan and implement off-time excursions and cultural exchange opportunities for summer seasonal staff, including nights out, store runs, and day adventures.

    Responsibilities:

    Courier & Shuttle

    • Work closely with the Camp Leadership Team on coordination of transportation and airport runs.
    • Work with the Leadership Team to create a schedule for seasonal staff off-time excursions and supply runs.
    • Drive staff to the hospital and urgent care when necessary
    • Make regular store and errand runs, organizing and purchasing the items on the store list promptly and efficiently. Maintain and process receipts from trips and distribute goods.
    • Load, Store, and put away items purchased, picked up, or delivered.
    • Follow pre-planned schedules and arrive on time for all responsibilities.
    • Provide passengers with a safety orientation and visibly check seatbelts prior to leaving on a trip. Verify all passengers on the sign-out sheet
    • While driving, respect and follow the Texas motor vehicle traffic laws.

    Vehicle and Transportation Safety

    • Complete and log daily and weekly safety checklists of all vehicles used for transportation.
    • Report maintenance concerns to the appropriate director. Communicate immediately any problems with the vehicles to the Maintenance Director and Camp Director
    • Keep the fleet of vehicles clean and filled with gasoline.
    • Develop and execute a schedule wherein each camp vehicle is cleaned regularly, inside and out.
    • Ensure that all safety equipment is in the emergency box in the vehicles and is operable.
    • Communicate regularly with the maintenance director on all issues related to the site and facilities.

    General

    • Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains an understanding of current best practices.
    • Attend training and meetings as directed.
    • Help coordinate staff care and support programs as needed.
    • Support the Camp Vice President and Operations Manager with the running of the Camp Store by learning to run the register and checking in inventory.
    • Be responsible for knowing and adhering to policies and procedures contained in the camp manual.
    • Actively support and promote a safe environment and ensure that proper safety precautions are being followed.
    • Mitigate risk whenever possible and make safety recommendations to all departments.
    • Ensure all equipment remains in proper working order and in compliance with operating procedures.
    • Maintain facility, equipment, vehicles, and groups according to ACA, State and Federal regulations, and Morgan's standards.
    • Monitor and control systems, practice, and education as it relates to risk management and safety for participants/employees, especially child abuse reporting policies and procedures.
    • Provide support for camp activities.
    • Any other duties as required.

    Knowledge Of

    • Knowledge of proper use of vehicles and safety equipment and proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance.
    • Knowledge of city and street navigation

    Qualifications

    • Education: A high school degree or equivalent is required.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Hold a Valid Driver's license
    • Have a clean driving record, which will be verified through a driving record, background check, and on-site driving skills verification.
    • The ability to operate various camp-approved vehicles, including vans, pickup trucks, and SUVs.
    • Commitment to the mission and core values of Morgan's Camp and the implementation of these values in all daily work activities.
    • Must possess high levels of self-motivation, organization, and time management.
    • Ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative.
    • Ability to deal with complex situations or issues and make effective, timely, and appropriate decisions.
    • Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures.

    Working Conditions

    • Work is performed in a fast-paced office and outdoor environment.
    • Ability to drive long hours and recognize unsafe driving conditions.
    • Ability to regularly lift up to approximately 50 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds.
    • Much physical effort is required on a routine basis, and the ability to use up to 50 pounds of force frequently is required.
    • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.
    • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist passengers in an emergency.
    • Visual and auditory acuity is required to identify safety hazards and identify and respond to environmental and other types of hazards as they relate to the camp operation.
    • Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
