JOB SUMMARY:
Interlake Maritime Services is seeking a candidate experienced in networking and developing strategies to attract U.S. credentialed merchant mariners. They will be responsible for building and executing sourcing strategies and action plans to identify and attract diverse candidates for various shipboard positions. The position oversees each aspect of the recruiting cycle and collaborates with crewing managers and leadership to develop recruitment strategies and to advise on best practices for assessing, interviewing, and onboarding candidates.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute recruiting strategies
- Utilize multiple recruiting sources and sourcing techniques to identify top talent to consistently build a diverse pipeline of candidates
- Maintain relationships with high schools, trade schools, and maritime academies
- Register and represent the Company at career fairs and networking events
- Stay current on recruiting trends and best practices
- Maintain New Hire application tracking database and job postings
- Screen candidates, including resume and job application review
- Perform background and reference checks as needed
- Work closely with Marine Personnel and H.R. to ensure a fluid onboarding process
- Ensure recruitment and hiring processes comply with employment laws and regulations
- Develop benchmarks for tracking recruiting metrics and employee retention to measure recruitment efficiencies
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Resources/Recruiting field or equivalent work experience (Preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of recruiting experience (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience with ADP (preferred)
- Discretion with personal and confidential information
- An engaging personality who can present well in front of groups or one on one with individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
- Flexible and skilled at working independently as well as in a team setting
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in M.S. applications and social media platforms
- High competency in diverse communications and ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives
