  • Responsibilities

    The Mortgage Relationship Manager is an outbound and inbound Mortgage Originator that identifies, develops, and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a referral source for new mortgage lending opportunities. They encourage members to use ECU as their primary financial institution. The position requires some overtime during busy seasons.

    Other essential duties and responsibilities include:

    · Establish new and cultivate existing relationships regionally and throughout ECU’s FOM by:

    · Participating in community efforts to promote homeownership.

    · Routinely calling on regional realtors to keep ECU top of mind.

    · Developing relationships with builders/developers to further opportunities to provide borrower financing for new construction.

    · Coordinating and attending real estate sales meetings to promote ECU Mortgage products and services.

    · Coordinating and presenting continuing mortgage education to real estate community.

    · Coordinating and presenting home buying, construction, and other seminars.

    · Attending mortgage industry professional meetings such as, Mortgage Bankers, Realtor Associations and Homebuilder Associations.

    · Attending community business events such as Chamber breakfasts, after hours, ribbon cuttings and other events in which contact with business leaders can be established.

    · Coordinate regional efforts in existing and new field of membership with ECU Regional Directors.

    · Develop and cultivate relationships with ECU branch staff within the region.

    · Target businesses within region to provide financial education opportunities for their employees.

    · Identify effective ECU sponsorship opportunities.

    · Utilize ECU issued cell phone to provide excellent service to ECU members, non-members, realtors and other individuals.

    · Responsible for ensuring extraordinary experience for members and business partners through excellent communication, responsiveness, follow-up and follow-through.

    · Continuous training and knowledge surrounding ECU’s specialty products such as:

    •Develop and maintain corporate ECU Relocation Rewards relationship. Educate and continually develop ECU’s Choice Professional Program, ECU’s construction loan products and government loans.

    • General knowledge of ECU’s non-mortgage products (consumer loans, deposits, ECU asset management, business lending, etc.)

    · Interview prospective borrowers, determine borrowers’ financial goals, and present appropriate ECU product options.

    · Discuss loan pricing and lock options.

    · Gather application data.

    · Assist Mortgage Associate and processor with additional application tasks as needed.

    · Manage loan pipeline to insure timely loan processing and closing.

    · Coordinate with regional team members to assess workload needs.

    · Provide leadership and mentor regional team members.

    · Prepare and submit monthly activity report.

    · Assist team members in other regions as needed.

    · Security and Safety

    · Maintain strict confidentiality toward member accounts within ECU as well as outside of ECU

    · Maintain strict confidentiality toward ECU corporate information and assets

    · Be aware of surroundings at events and ensure self-safety

    · Maintain working knowledge of mortgage regulatory compliance. Including but not limited to:

    • Regulation Z –

    o High - Cost Mortgages

    Required Skills

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations –

    • Maintain registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS)
    • Continuing education for mortgage originators required under Regulation Z

    Other Skills and Abilities

    • Overall ECU product knowledge – deposits, consumer & business lending, online offerings, etc
    • Knowledge of ECU Mortgage and Home Equity products as well as secondary market and government (FHA/VA) guidelines and regulations related to mortgage lending
    • Ability to develop and deliver presentations, seminars, etc. to educate the public about ECU products and services. Excel in public speaking opportunities while generating confidence in ECU with all individuals with whom come into contact with, making ECU their FI of choice
    • Ability to identify cross service opportunities
    • Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition
    • Overall understanding of mortgage workflow and process

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Demonstrated success in business development and meeting production goals; Demonstrated ability to establish network of referral business
