    Job Description

    Morton is seeking a Java Architect / DevOps Engineer for our client in Richmond, VA. This person will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including estimation, technical design, construction, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, and support of applications developed for our clients. Responsible for technical planning and elicitation of DevOps engagements and serve as a technical lead and mentor providing technical support and leadership in the development of continual improvement of solutions. RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Champion DevOps and agile strategies and practices across teams
    • Own and drive forward Java and CI/CD pipeline maturation across the organization
    • Provide mentorship on tooling and methodologies to promote DevOps, agile development, and ensure compliance to architectural standards, design patterns, policies, and best practices
    • Lead maturation and migration to new development tools and processes
    • Lead initiatives within an architecture capacity across the organization
    • Develop proof of concept projects to validate new solutions to enable development teams
    • Support Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping, and creation of technical solutions
    • Develop design specifications, installation instructions and other system-related information.
    • Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of Java Enterprise applications and DevOps tools.
    • Facilitates design reviews, analyzes specifications, and evaluates potential risk.
    • Implement solutions focusing on reuse and industry standards at a program, enterprise or operational scope level.
    • Evaluates alternatives and analyzes problems by collaborating with System Administrator teams, Application Development and Support teams, and Infrastructure teams.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred in architecting, designing and engineering highly complex technology solutions across multiple diverse platforms requiring high performing, high-volume transaction processing
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with DevOps principles, practices, and tools
    • Strong understanding of delivery methodology
    • Fluent and current on architecture trends with an eye on market/technical conditions and future direction
    • Experience with development of on premise and cloud solutions
    • Experience in defining DevOps architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural standpoint
    • Demonstrated success in performing work and managing complex and/or large consulting projects
    • Ability to elicit requirements and communicate clearly with non-technical individuals, development teams, and other ancillary project members
    • Experience in the following development standards and tools: Java, Spring framework
    • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
    • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
    • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities.
    • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’ s degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Certifications in DevOps tools required (e.g. Jenkins, OCP, Sonarqube, etc.)
    • Experience with the following tools: Mongo Atlas, WebMethods
