SYSTEM ENGINEER

Mosaic451 is seeking a System Engineer to support an enterprise-level internal engineering and security team. The desired candidate will have experience focused on providing excellent customer service as a Linux System Administrator/Engineer supporting the corporate systems infrastructure including our operations teams which provides monitoring, operations and escalation for production environments.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experience managing and helping to set up Amazon Web Services (AWS) to include:
  • Elastic Computer Cloud (EC2)
  • Configuring and setting up security groups in AWS
  • Log Parsing
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Servers, workstations, and virtualization technologies.
• The ability to design, install, configure, and support Linux Servers and business critical applications running on this platform.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve desktop and application issues on Windows 10.
• Create and maintain system documentation.
• Understanding of LAN/WAN architecture, backup and recovery, and network security
• Perform installation, maintenance and upgrades on systems equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to meet or exceed published SLAs
• Enforce system and network security guidelines and procedures
• Perform and document operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of system upgrades, failover, and configuration
• Support other engineers and architects with documentation, testing, and implementation of network and system infrastructure

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-5 years of experience engineering Linux operating systems
• 3-5 years of experience in customer service-focused job(s) related to information technology
• Strong AWS Experience
• Intermediate understanding of infrastructure monitoring and methodologies
• Basic to intermediate understanding of networking technology, such as routing, switching and VPN
• Intermediate understanding of system and network virtualization technologies
• Basic ability to write scripts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with focus on client satisfaction
• Ability to work well with a team and independently/remotely. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor other individuals

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with SIEM products
• Some experience managing Windows servers and an interest to learn

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field
• At least one networking, systems or security certification
• Systems examples: MCSE, MCSA, MCP
• Networking examples: CCNA, JNCIA, CCNP
• Security examples: CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, GCFW
