TITLE: No-Fault Litigation Claims Examiner

DEPARTMENT: No-Fault

REPORTS TO: Claims Manager

OBJECTIVE: Settle/Defend No-Fault Suits and Arbitrations

MVAIC is currently seeking an experienced No-Fault Litigation Examiner with thorough knowledge of Regulation 68. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with New York No-Fault Litigation Claim handling is required.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Analyze suits and conciliations/arbitration notices and determine if settlement or defense is warranted; in cases where defenses are strong/statutory attempt to get arbitrations withdrawn prior to escalation.
• Review and set appropriate reserves.
• Prepare Referrals to counsel. Include a cogent, comprehensive analysis;
• Monitor defense of the litigation to ensure proper defenses are asserted and litigation is handled in a timely, expeditious manner;
• Appear at Arbitration hearings;
• Provide testimony as a witness in court proceedings;
• Provide support to counsel as needed;
• Monitor decisions to surface trends in litigation;
• Report findings to Claims Manager;
• Maintain a clean and organized work area;
• Be guided by “Best Practices” and corporate policies and procedures;
• Be flexible and willing to take on other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management;

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of two (2) years No-Fault Litigation Claims experience
• Effective communication skills-verbal and written
• Strong organizational skills
• Conversant in Regulation 68
• Good knowledge of the WC Fee Schedule
• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management, employees and the public
• Strong organizational skills
• Possess a professional demeanor
• Ability to multitask
